Vila Isabel announced on the afternoon of Monday (10) who will be the replacement of Paulo Barros, turned off after the eighth place at Carnival 2025, in Rio. Gabriel Haddad and Leonardo Bora, former carnavalescos of Greater Rio, were hired for the revelry of next year. The two posed alongside Luiz Guimarães, president of the school, wearing a shirt from the 1988 village, “Kizomba” plot.
Paulo Barros, who left the school after three years, was involved in one of this year’s controversy. The carnival criticized the Afro plots on the avenue and said he did not like indigenous themes as well. “I don’t like it. I think it’s a bag because it’s a ready recipe,” he told F5.
“We greatly admire the trajectory of Unidos de Vila Isabel, a school that has a tradition in Rio Carnival since the 1940s, incredible discography and the development of so many important plots for us to think of Brazil – something that interests us as artists and that has been done in our carnival trajectory,” said Leonardo Bora on Instagram.
“It is a great pride, especially for the invitation. We understand that the village has an impressive story in Carnival. The way everything is told and developed on the avenue and outside it is also spectacular. I am looking forward to the rehearsals of September 28, being with the community, being with the segments, which is how we like to live the samba school,” added Gabriel Haddad also on the social network.
