An Israeli delegation is expected to visit the White House early next week for strategic consultations on Iran, according to two Israeli officials and an US official citing the Axios news network.

US President Donald Trump has given Tehran a two -month window to negotiate a new nuclear deal, as Axios had previously said, and has threatened with military attacks on Iran’s nuclear program if there is no agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team believe that the chances of an agreement are small and want to have a common plan if the situation escalates in military action, said one of the Israeli officials.

This will be the first meeting of the US-Israeli Counseling Strategic Group (SCG) since Trump took over. This is the upper US-Israel debate forum for the Iranian nuclear program.

Netanyahu’s leading advisers, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Advisor Jacques Hanegby, are expected to lead the Israeli delegation, according to Israeli officials.

The delegation will also include senior representatives from the National Security Council, the Army, Mosad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the Atomic Energy Committee, as officials said. They are expected to meet with a US team led by Trump National Security Advisor Mike Walts and representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the Pentagon and the US Intelligence Services.

According to Axios, the two working groups are expected to focus on the Iran nuclear issue and the possibility of negotiations between the US and Tehran.

The official added that the war in Gaza and the Israeli-Lebanese negotiations on their controversial borders are also expected to be discussed.
