Rapper Emicida and singer Alessia Cara, who performed at Lollapalooza, paid tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in their shows on Saturday night (26). He was found dead on Friday (25) in his hotel room in Bogotá, Colombia – the band was supposed to close the festival in São Paulo, but canceled its tour of Latin America after the musician’s death.
About to finish his show, around 8 pm, Emicida highlighted the importance of the band that Hawkins was a part of, “for the music, energy, history, technical ability, vibration”. “Our hearts were broken because I believe that we all look up to the Foo Fighters in some way,” he said. “At this moment, I wanted to send out the best energy to our brother’s family, who unfortunately left us yesterday.”
Alessia Cara dedicated “Best Days” to the musician. “This is a very happy night, but it also has a heavy weight on our hearts,” said the singer. “Yesterday the world lost a great person, drummer and artist. My band and I are devastated and send all our love to his family, friends and family.”
Crying, she then asked everyone to turn on their cell flashlights.
