The tightening of border controls is once again defended, despite the objections of legal, police and humanitarian organizations, by the German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrid in a new interview with Welt. “Germany acts as a magnet for irregular migration,” says 54 -year -old Bavarian Christian society, and this “should be reduced”.

But he admits that Germany is not ready to fully take on the burden of checks and that measures must be taken to relieve police officers on border checks.

He announces that in support of the border police officers, the customs officials should rush, as they have already been doing Germany in Germany by 2023 with Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland.

Speaking to the Rheinische Post newspaper, police chief Andrea Rocopv points out that during the first three week of implementation of border controls, German police are within the limits of its abilities.

And France, however, is now raising serious objections to the plans of the Mertz government. As Spiegel reveals, the French Embassy in Berlin is calling for clarifications on German border controls by the German Interior and Foreign Ministries.

According to French diplomatic circles, Paris is also alleged to have requested information on the legal basis for border controls and in particular whether Germany will activate the exemption clause referred to in Article 72 of the EU Treaty. In order to do so, it will have to be submitted “legal”.
