The Ukrainian government today estimated at more than 500 billion euros the financial losses caused by the war with Russia, as announced on Facebook the Minister of Economy of the country Yulia Sviridenko.
The minister estimates at “$ 564.9 billion” (515.8 billion euros) “the direct impact of the disasters” since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, to which are added the “indirect effects of the fighting” on the economy, especially those associated with rising unemployment, declining household consumption or even falling government revenues.
In terms of infrastructure, the losses are greater, Sviridenko said, with “almost 8,000 kilometers of road network damaged or destroyed”, as well as “dozens of railway stations, airports” for an amount of 108.5 billion euros.
She added that ten million square meters of homes and 200,000 cars have been destroyed in more than a month.
Sviridenko, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, estimates, in addition, at 102 billion euros the decline in GDP in 2022, ie a contraction of more than 55% of the economy compared to 2021.
The Ukrainian state budget is in danger of shrinking by 43.8 billion euros, according to the Ministry of Economy, which is a drop of almost 90% in the projected annual budget.
“Every day the numbers change and unfortunately they increase,” Sviridenko said in a post on her Facebook account.
