Former Spanish king Juan Carlos will publish his memoirs by the end of the year, an unprecedented move for a Spanish monarch, Planeta published.

Juan Carlos, who once had respect for the role he played in the transition of Spain to the Republic, was forced to resign in 2014, following the scandals involved-such as his relationship with Danish Korina Chu Schin-Vitgenstein-Saidin-Saidin. Today it is considered a disadvantage for his son, King Philip.

The Spanish prosecutor was investigating complaints of fraud against the former king in Spain and Switzerland. But the investigation was recorded as there was insufficient evidence and the limitation period had elapsed. Juan Carlos’ lawyer then said that prosecutors failed to prove that the former king had committed a crime.

The book, written in the first person, is aimed at highlighting the former king’s fundamental contribution to the successful transition to democracy during the 40th anniversary of his reign, which was overshadowed by his self -exile in Abu Dhabi and some of his own mistakes.

“My father has always advised me not to write my memoirs. Kings are not confessed. And, of course, not publicly. Their secrets remain buried in the shadows of the palaces. Why do I do it today? Why did I change my mind? Because I feel they are stealing my story, ”Juan Carlos allegedly said, according to Planeta.

The 87 -year -old former monarch settled in Abu Dhabi in 2020 and does not participate in official events of the royal family. He returned to Spain only for a few brief visits, mainly for a holiday with his sailing, Bribon, on the northwest coast of the country.

The memoirs will be detailed on the private side of a public life, the publishing house said.
