The Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Dominic Raab said in morning interviews that London is cautious about Russian statements about de-escalation of the activity around Kyiv.

“We judge the Russian military mission by its actions, not just by its words,” Raab said, echoing the prime minister’s reaction yesterday. Boris Johnson.

“There is obviously some skepticism that (Russia) will regroup and attack again instead of getting seriously involved in diplomacy,” he added.

“Of course the door to diplomacy will always be open, but I do not think anyone can trust what comes out of the mouth of Putin’s war machine,” he said.

Mr Raab also described as “alarming” the news of the recruitment of Wagner’s mercenaries from Russia, adding that it also likely showed the weakness of its own professional soldiers.

“Certainly the Russian war machine, which had a very frightening reputation, has proven to be faltering, at least in the early stages of the operation,” concluded Dominic Raab.
