Russian forces are fighting on several fronts, according to Kyiv

Ukrainian officials reported bombings around Kyiv and the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine today, despite a commitment by Moscow to reduce its military operations there.

Russian forces also bombed almost all towns along the front line separating Ukrainian-controlled territory from areas controlled by Russian-backed separatists in the eastern Donetsk region, according to the regional Heavy fighting broke out in Mariupol in southern Ukraine.

Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said today that Russia was moving troops from northern Ukraine to eastern regions to try to encircle Ukrainian troops there.

Russia will maintain some forces near Kyiv to try to prevent Ukrainian forces from strengthening the eastern front, Arestovich added.

“Although the Russians are withdrawing some troops “(around) Kyiv, they will still leave some forces here (near Kyiv) to hold our troops,” the adviser to the Ukrainian president told television networks.

Kyiv Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznik said earlier today on public television that bombings were heard outside the Ukrainian capital overnight, but noted that Kyiv itself was not bombed by Russian forces.

“The night passed relatively calmly, with the sound of sirens and the sound of fire from battles around the city, but there was no bombing inside the city itself,” Povoroznik said.

The governor of the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine, Vyacheslav Chaus, also said he did not see a reduction in Russian attacks despite Moscow’s announcement yesterday of a reduction in military activity in the area. |

“Do we believe it? Certainly not,” he said in a message on the Telegram app.

“Chernihiv has been bombed all night,” he said, adding that civilian infrastructure had been destroyed and residents were still without water or electricity.

“The ‘reduced activity’ of the enemy in the Chernihiv region meant blows to the (city) of Nizhny Novgorod, including air strikes, and overnight blows to Chernihiv,” he continued.

The city, which had 280,000 inhabitants before the war, no longer has “communication networks and we can no longer repair them,” he added.

THE Russia pledged yesterday to “radically” reduce its military operations in Kyiv and Chernihiv, following “substantive” talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul.

“The situation is not changing, Chernihiv is being targeted by artillery and air strikes,” Chaos said.

After Mariupol In the south, Chernihiv is the city that has received the most bombings since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

“We are not relaxing, we are working to strengthen our defense capability,” Kim said.

Meanwhile in western Ukraine, the governor of the Khmelnytsky region also said earlier today that Russian forces had hit an industrial facility in the area overnight.

Serhiy Hamali did not elaborate further on the targets of the strikes, but noted that fires were “detected” and checks were made to determine if there were any casualties.
