One dead and more than 20 missing is the report of the sinking of a vessel with irregular immigrants off the coast of the Dominican Republic, authorities said Friday, adding that they had rescued 17 people.

The Navy announced that it had rescued ten Dominican and seven ecclesiasticals aboard the sinking wooden boat. Among the rescuers is a child.
