Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in North Korea on Friday, the KCNA state media reported on Saturday, referring to the scheduled visit of the senior Russian official, amid re -heating relations between the two countries.

The Russian official departed from the capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur after the ASEAN foreign ministers meeting and arrived at Woncanthe eastern coastal city of North Korea, which hosts a new resort and is known for its rocket and naval installations.

Lavrov’s visit, scheduled for Sunday, includes a meeting between countries’ foreign ministers, KCNA said.

On the other hand, the Russian State News Agency TASS reported that Lavrov and his North Korean counterpart, Soythey will discuss the Ukrainian conflict that lasts 40 months and the situation in the Korean peninsula.

Lavrov’s visit is the last high -level meeting between the two countries amid a significant upgrade of their strategic cooperation, which now includes a defense mutual agreement.
