Poland will not hesitate to dispel objects that violate its airspace and are a threat, but will adopt more tactic for incidents that are not clear, the Polish prime minister said today. Donald Tusk during a press conference.
Estonia has announced that three Russian fighter jets violated its airspace on Friday, which has reinforced the belief in the Atlantic Alliance that Moscow is testing its readiness and determination. Some NATO allies suggested a strong answer.
The UN Security Council will meet today to discuss the incident.
Moscow said today that Estonia’s claims are false and aim to increase tension.
It is recalled that on the night of September 10th to 11th, 20 Russian drones entered Poland’s airspace. Warsaw also complained on Friday that two Russian fighters violated the Petrobaltic mining zone in the Baltic Sea.
“We will make the decision to break up flying objects that violate our territory and fly over Poland – there is no discussion on it,” Donald Tusk warned today.
“When we are dealing with situations that are not completely clear, such as the flight of Russian fighters above the Petrobaltic platform – but without a violation, because it is not our territorial waters – one has to think twice if it will take actions that can create an acute phase.”
The Polish prime minister also stressed that Poland should be certain that it would not be alone if it begins.
“I also have to be completely sure … that all allies will deal with it the same way as us,” he said.
