Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his conviction that the positive results of his meeting with US President Donald Trump would be visible in the near future.
In his statements following the cabinet meeting in Ankara, the Turkish president said on September 25 he had “an extensive, productive and meaningful meeting with Mr Trump and his delegation to the White House.
“We discussed many issues with him,” he said, “mainly bilateral trade, investment, energy and defense industry.”
He also said: “We discussed the measures to be taken to achieve the goal of $ 100 billion in trade, which we have put together during Mr Trump’s first term.
The massacre in Gaza, the growing aggression of Israel, the Russian-Ukraine war and the developments in our region were at the top of our agenda. “
“I believe that the positive results of our meeting with Mr Trump will be visible to all of us in the near future,” the Turkish president added.
Tayyip Erdogan also turned his arrows against the opposition, saying that “the reason why politicians and opposition journalists are trying to defame our visit to the US is that this visit was extremely successful.
If we had paid attention to what the opposition was saying, Turkey would not have any of its infrastructure investments today. From foreign policy to transport, from energy to defense industry, from tourism to health, we have achieved every step despite the constant opposition. “
Referring to developments in the Middle East, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that “despite the efforts to obstruct Israel, the Palestine case left its mark at the UN General Assembly”.
“Except for a handful of countries, almost no one wants to stand by Israel and the Netanyahu government, nor be photographed with them. We are very pleased that the number of countries that recognize Palestine has reached 158, as a country that has essentially taken over the leadership of this struggle, “he commented and added: Everyone acknowledges that Netanyahu, who has been squeezed by investigations into corruption, lit fires in the area. We are steadily standing on the side of the Palestinian people who defend their land, freedom and dignity. “
Finally, he argued that the recognition of the Palestinian state by two Member States of the Security Council, the United Kingdom and France, although delayed, is extremely important.
