Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he was found in the province Eskişehir of Turkey “the second largest field of rare earths in the world”which contains approx 694 million tons of minerals.
Speaking after the meeting of the Council of Ministers at the presidential palace in Ankara, the Turkish president revealed that in extensive investigations in the area Beilikova of Eskişehir approximately 12.5 million tons of rare earth oxides were identified, as well as significant deposits of barite and fluorite.
As he said, “we want to be one of the five largest producers of rare earths in the world”. The region contains 10 of the 17 known rare earth elements, which are raw materials vital to defense industries, renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, communications and space technology.
“This location will not be given to any country under any circumstances”Erdogan said. “Whoever claims otherwise is slandering his own country”he added.
The official opposition leader and president of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Ozgur Ozelhad accused him Recep Tayyip Erdogan that in his meeting with the president of the USA, in Washington, he granted the mines in the area Beilikova of Eskişehir to Donald Trump in exchange for his international acceptance. “Let’s stop Erdogan from giving the future of this country to Trump. Turkey must stand up on rare earths. Erdogan cannot sell the rare earths of this country for his own future. We will not allow it”had stated Ozgur Ozel.
