Two people were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike in a Russian-held part of southern Ukraine’s Kherson region, Moscow-appointed governor Vladimir Saldo said today.
Both victims were living in a temporary housing center for displaced people, Saldo said in a Telegram announcement.
In the meantime three people were also killed five were injured in an explosion at the factory Avangard explosives in the city of Sterlitamak, in the Bashkortostan region of Russia, according to its regional governor, Randy Kabirov.
The explosion at the factory occurred yesterday, Friday, evening.
Medical examiners are investigating the cause of the explosion, Kabirov added in a statement on his Telegram account, in which denied that it was caused by Ukrainian drone strikes.
Emergency services announced today that they had completed search and rescue operations at the Sterlitamac plant, which had continued throughout the night.
The Avangard factory manufactures industrial explosives and disassembles ammunition.
As of 2022, the plant is under the control of the Russian state industrial group Rostec.
