Huge rallies were held in American cities, including New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami, with protesters to protest his authoritarian policies Donald Trump. According to CNN, a total of 2,700 rallies were held across the US with the central slogan “No to Kings”.

Organizers estimate that around 7 million citizens mobilized, two million more than the corresponding protest demonstrations last June.

The concentration on the iconic Times Square of New York attracted thousands of people shortly after it began on Saturday morning. A total of about 100,000 protesters took part, according to organizers.

Streets and subway entrances were suffocated with protesters holding signs with slogans such as “Democracy not Monarchy” and “The Constitution is not optional.”

Apart from the massive gatherings in the big cities, other smaller ones took place in the squares and streets of smaller towns.

Before the protests, Trump allies accused the protesters of being affiliated with the Antifa movement and called them “hate rallies for America.”

The peaceful protests come after a tumultuous summer of massive raids on immigrants and the deployment of the National Guard in Democratic-dominated cities.

In New York, sections of the crowd chanted “this is democracy” to the sound of drums and cowbells.
