Tufan Erhiurmam, the winner of the “presidential elections” in the Occupied Cyprus, was congratulated by Recep Tayyip Erdogan with his post, after the “defeat” of his chosen one, Ersin Tatar.
The Turkish president also sent a message that Turkey will defend the interests of the pseudo-state, which he refers to as the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Specifically, in his message, the Turkish president states:
“Today, I congratulate Mr. Tufan Erhurman, who was elected “President” according to the unofficial results of the elections held in the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.
I hope that this election, which once again highlighted the democratic maturity of the TRNC and reflects the will of our Turkish Cypriot brothers, will be beneficial for our countries and our region.
As Turkey, we will continue to defend the sovereign rights and interests of the TRNC together with our Turkish Cypriot brothers.”
