Another femicide shocks Italy. In Castelnuovo del Garda, outside Verona, a 41-year-old man murdered his ex-partner “with an unspecified number of knives”. The woman killer is of Brazilian origin and his name is Douglas Reis Pedrozo. The victim, 33 years old, was called Jessica Strapazzolo Custodio De Lima, also from Brazil.

Pedrozo called the carabinieri late last night, saying he intended to kill himself. After a few hours, the body of the unfortunate woman was found in the apartment where she lived, while the knife used by the perpetrator was found in his car.

In the past, the thirty-three-year-old had repeatedly called the carabinieri, because of the violent behavior of her partner, but then withdrew the related lawsuit.

Last April, Douglas Reis Pedrozo was served with a court order that prohibited him from being within five hundred meters of his ex-partner’s home and work, while he was required to use an “electronic bracelet.” The decision was a consequence of Pedrozo’s immediate arrest (which turned into the imposition of restrictive measures) due to violence against the woman, for the umpteenth time and in a public place, with fists and sharp objects.

During his arrest yesterday, however, the carabinieri found that the man was not wearing the specific bracelet, which has not yet been identified.
