Johnny Depp: I’m in absolute shock, I never hit Amber Heard, I do not deserve it

by

Famous actor Johnny Depp testified today that he never hit his ex-wife Amber Heard and disputes her accusations, in a case of defamation worth 50 million dollars, in order to partially protect his children from false information about his behavior. .

Speaking in a low tone and calm, Depp told a Virginia court that he was “absolutely shocked” six years ago when Herd “made some rather hateful and unpleasant” accusations that he behaved violently during their relationship.

“I never got to the point of hitting Mrs Herd in any way, nor have I ever hit any woman in my life,” Depp said.

“I felt it was my responsibility not only to defend myself before this court, but to defend my children,” Depp said. His two children from a previous relationship were going to high school at that time, he noted.

“It is very strange when one day you are, say, like Cinderella and then in 6 fractions of a second you are Kwasimodos”, added the protagonist.

“I did not deserve this, neither my children nor the people who believed in me all these years,” he said.

Depp, 58, claims that Herd, 35, slandered him when he wrote an opinion article in the Washington Post in December 2018, in which he said that he had survived domestic violence. He filed a lawsuit against Herd in 2018, claiming $ 50 million in damages.

Depp was never named in the article, but Benjamin Chu’s lawyer told judges a week ago that it was clear Herd was referring to the Hollywood actor.

Herd’s lawyers, for their part, argued that she was telling the truth and that her point of view was protected as freedom of speech under the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

A court in Fairfax County, Virginia has taken over the case, which is in its second week and is expected to last 6 weeks.
