The United Kingdom has imported 220 220 million worth of oil from Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. at the end of Februaryaccording to data from the environmental organization Greenpeace.

The introduction was made despite the fact that the British government is of the fiercest in criticism against Russia, and leads the voices in favor of a full embargo on Russian hydrocarbons.

London has said it will complete the import of Russian oil within the year and that announcements about Russian gas will follow. Oil from Russia accounts for about 8% of black gold consumed in Britain, while Russian gas accounts for about 4% of British needs.

Data from Greenpeace show that in the last two months in Britain they have arrived 1.9 million barrels of oil or 257,000 tons.

London has banned the arrival of Russian-owned, managed or flagged vessels, but tankers under another flag carrying Russian oil are free to enter British waters.

The environmental group blamed the British government for hypocrisy. A Downing Street spokesman said: “We will phase out Russian oil by the end of the year and import liquefied Russian gas as soon as possible. “The UK has no problem with either oil or gas supply and, unlike Europe, we are not dependent on Russian energy imports.”
