Russia prepares for military parade in besieged Mariupol on May 9 to celebrate victory over Nazi Germanyaccording to the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service. May 9 gives the opportunity to hold a large military parade in Moscow’s Red Square.

According to the GUR, the deputy director of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, arrived in Mariupol to prepare for the parade.

“The main mission of Mr. Putin’s official is to prepare for the May 9 ceremonies,” the GUR told the Telegram.

Mariupol “will become a center of celebrations”, according to the announcement. “The main thoroughfares are being cleaned urgently, debris and corpses are being removed along with unexploded ordnance.”

The Russian viewers will see the reports about the “joy” of the residents of Mariupol that the Russians see their city arriving, GUR reports.

According to the GUR, “a large-scale propaganda campaign is underway” against the city’s population, which, according to Ukrainian authorities, now stands at 100,000 to 120,000 people, up from half a million before the war.

THE Mariupol is almost entirely under the control of the Russian army, with the exception of the Azovstal metallurgical complex, where the last Ukrainian fighters – defenders of Mariupol and civilians remain fortified. The group has not been fully occupied by Russian forces.

Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boitshenko said on Ukrainian television a few hours ago that heavy fighting was taking place in Azovstal, where the last defenders and a few civilians remained, and that contact with Ukrainian fighters in the last free zone of the city had been lost.

More than 30 children are among the civilians waiting to leave Azovstal.
