by

French Minister for the Environment and Energy Barbara Pompili expressed today the belief that European Union member states to agree on end to Russian oil imports by the end of this week.

“Some countries are more dependent on Russian oil than others, so we must try to find solutions so that they can agree on this measure.”told France Info radio station. “But I think we can do it”.

France hosted an extraordinary meeting of EU energy ministers this week to discuss how to deal with Moscow’s decision to cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland because they did not pay in rubles.

THE EU. has proposed a gradual embargo on Russian oil.If implemented, the plan will be implemented in six months for crude oil and eight months for diesel and other petroleum products.

It will be followed by an embargo on Russian oil imposed by the US and Britain and will be a milestone for the world’s largest trade union, which still relies heavily on Russian energy amid growing civilian casualties in Ukraine.
