Elon Musk leaves an “open possibility” for Trump’s return to Twitter

by

It seems that Elon Musk does not rule out the possibility of Donald Trump “returning” to Twitter, if his plan to buy the social networking medium goes ahead.

In an exclusive interview with the Financial Times at the Future of the Car conference on Tuesday, Musk was asked about Trump’s possible return to Twitter. Instead of responding immediately, Musk said he believed that permanent bans on Twitter should be “extremely rare” and intended for “robots or spam / scam accounts”.

“I do not think it was right to ban Donald Trump from having an account,” Musk said. “I think it was wrong because it alienated a large part of the country and it did not result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”

Trump was permanently banned from the social networking site three days after the January 6 attack on the Capitol because of the “risk of further incitement to violence.”

Musk reached an agreement in late April to buy Twitter for $ 44 billion, saying after her announcement that he planned to ensure that the platform was dedicated to freedom of speech.

“Freedom of speech is the foundation of a functioning democracy and Twitter is the digital square of the city where issues of vital importance to the future of humanity are being discussed,” he said in a statement.
