The total amount of subsidies for July rises to 722 million euros, a size that is 300 million euros higher than in June
Significant relief comes to offer households the new energy support packagewhich was announced yesterday by the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas.
Specifically, an increase in the aid per kilowatt hour is foreseen, but also the abolition of the consumption limits in the subsidies so that to reduce the cost of electricity.
Regarding the “front” of energy security, Mr. Skrekas also announced that the new floating LNG tank in Revythoussa will be put into operation at the end of July, while in September the new lignite unit of PPC Ptolemaida 5 will be added to the production capacity.
In particular, the subsidies for July are structured as follows:
Domestic consumption: Horizontal coverage of all without exceptions and income criteria and without monthly consumption limits. The subsidy is 200 euros per megawatt hour, a size that absorbs up to 84% of the increase, and 240 euros for Social Household Tariff beneficiaries for whom up to 100% of the increase is absorbed.
For professional invoices with a supply power of up to 35 kva (bakeries, shops, patisseries, mini markets, kiosks, etc.) the subsidy is 192 euros per megawatt hour.
For agricultural tariffs213 euros per megawatt hour.
For the rest professional and industrial sectors with a supply power of more than 35 kva, a subsidy of 148 euros per megawatt hour.
For professional and industrial consumptions natural gas, 30 euros per megawatt hour.
With these data, the total amount of subsidies for July rises to 722 million eurossize that is by 300 million euros increased compared to June. In total since September, when the subsidies on energy bills began, the amount that has been spent exceeds 5 billion euros and is, as Mr. Skrekas pointed out, the largest in the EU in proportion to the GDP and the potential of the economy.
The minister reminded that from next month the readjustment clause is suspendeds, consumers will be aware of suppliers’ tariffs in good time and will be able to switch suppliers without restrictions. In relation, finally, to energy sufficiency, he reiterated that the government has drawn up a comprehensive plan that satisfactorily addresses even the possibility of interruption of the flow of Russian natural gas.
The measures considered in yesterday’s relevant meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs include the securing of liquefied natural gas loads, the securing of lignite and water reserves in hydroelectric plants, the operation of natural gas units with diesel.
