The wave of food donations that exploded in the pandemic, but then retreated, is gaining momentum again in the scenario of concern about hunger in the country.
A group of 17 restaurants, which includes names such as Due Cuocchi, Rodeo, Fogo de Chão, Mania de Churrasco, Varanda and others, will open a new campaign in the coming days with the donation of cans of feijoada to about 6,000 families. They will also distribute 100 thousand lunchboxes.
They had already taken a similar action last year with the distribution of lunchboxes during the period when establishments were closed due to the restrictions of the pandemic.
Sylvio Lazzarini, director of Varanda Grill restaurants and member of Fhoresp (Federation of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Similar of the State of São Paulo), says that the goal is to deliver 2,000 lunchboxes a day for two or three days a week in up to three months . JBS Friboi will participate with the donation of animal protein.
Entities such as the Safrater Institution, linked to the Spiritist Federation of the State of São Paulo, and the Mara Gabrilli Institute will benefit.
Also this month, Assaí Atacadista announces a 65% increase in food donations to social organizations. According to the company, the goal is to surpass 2,000 tons of fruits and vegetables.
