The reporting counselor at CADE of the analysis of the merger of the sale of the Reman refinery by Petrobras asked for a view of the process this Wednesday (3).
The request postponed the decision of the collegiate on the deal made with Ream Participações SA, of Grupo Atem.
The Isaac Sabbá Refinery, in Amazonas, had the sales contract signed last year and is part of the eight refineries that Petrobras will have to dispose of in order to comply with the Conduct Assignment Term (TCC signed) with the council in 2019. Reman deal was announced for US$ 189.5 million (R$ 991.5 million).
CADE’s General Superintendence had already approved the operation on May 12 of this year, but it still lacks the appreciation of all the directors.
The analysis of the rapporteur Lenisa Rodrigues Prado deals mainly with the possibility of creating a regional monopoly in the refining of the North region, in addition to verticalization, since the Atem Group already operates in the field of fuel distribution.
In 2018, Atem was accused by companies in the sector of practicing unfair competition. At the time, the Amazonian company denied the practice.
