Bolsonarista truckers block roads in at least 11 states

The PRF (Federal Highway Police) confirmed that there have been blockades or agglomerations of truck drivers on roads in 11 states and the Federal District since the night of this Sunday (30).

The corporation did not report how many occurrences in each of the states. There have been or are ongoing protests in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Rondônia, Pará and the Federal District.

Videos circulating on the internet show tires on fire on the road. In one of them, you can hear the national anthem in the background.

In Mato Grosso, protesters supporting President Jair Bolsonaro blocked the BR-163 at six points.

The Rota do Oeste concessionaire, which manages the highway, confirmed on the balance sheet at 5:27 am the closure at the following points: Nova Mutum, at km 594, southbound; Lucas do Rio Verde, at km 691; Smile, km 746; Sinop, at km 835; Cuiabá, at km 395 and Várzea Grande, at km 524.

According to the concessionaire, there was also a blockage in Rondonópolis at km 119, but the road was later released.

The highway is an important transport route for agribusiness products from Mato Grosso towards the ports of Arco Norte, such as Miritituba, in Itaituba, Pará.

“The concessionaire continues to monitor, without interference, the demonstrations focused on road safety. The operational teams of Rota do Oeste are signaling the end of the line, as a way to avoid accidents”, said Rota do Oeste, in a note, noting that the its role is just monitoring.

The report sought out the Mato Grosso Security Secretariat, but was unable to contact them. The Federal Highway Police of Mato Grosso was also contacted, but did not respond immediately.

Federal deputy Nereu Crispim (PSD-RS), president of the Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of Autonomous and Celetistas Truckers, stated in an official note that truck drivers will not stop to protest against the election result.

The category “does not and will not participate in any movement to stop or block roads to protest and question the result of the elections that elected candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as the new President of Brazil,” he said.

• BR-153 (Goiás): Itumbiara, km 703, with completely closed lanes;
