The Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Alexandra Sdoukou, speaking today at the Ecomobility conference, also said that in 2030 there will be 500,000 electric vehicles on Greek roads
Electricity bills up to three times cheaper during the hours of the day when there is a surplus of production (e.g. the midday hours of the summer when the production of photovoltaics peaks) they offer power suppliers in Europe and this it must also be implemented in our country, with the expansion of smart consumption meters.
This was pointed out by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Alexandra Sdoukou speaking today at the Ecomobility conference which takes place in Athens. As Ms. Sdoukou said, the institutional framework for dynamic pricing is already in place and is one of the most important conditions for the increase in the use of electric vehicles to be accompanied by the optimal use of the electricity distribution network. “Electric vehicle charging should be done when prices are low and stopped when demand is high. This can be done by digitizing the grid, smart meters and introducing dynamic billing on bills to incentivize consumers to adjust their charging times, which is being done in other European countries such as Denmark and the UK,” he emphasized.
Ms. Sdoukou mentioned thatThe national energy plan predicts that in 2030 there will be 500,000 electric vehicles on Greek roadsand that the electrification of transport must proceed in parallel with the “greening” of power generation in order to obtain the maximum benefit. He also announced that in addition to road transport, the first electric ferry-boat on the Galata-Poros line is being planned as part of Poros’ inclusion in the GR-eco islands initiative.
At the same conference, the managing director of DEDDIE An. Manos revealed that of the 10,000 electric vehicle chargers installed in our country, only 6% have been declared to the Administrator (as provided by law). “This cannot continue, we will cut off the supply to chargers that are not declared,” he said. He stated that the Operator can cope with the needs created by electrification while underlining the additional benefit for consumers with electric vehicles who, in addition to charging at times when prices are low, will be able to sell power to the grid from their car’s battery when prices are high.
