BNDES and Coca-Cola Brasil will open in the coming days a second round of acquisition of refrigerators for Brazilian municipalities that still have low immunization rates in the campaign against Covid-19.
The initiative, which serves destinations with low HDI (Human Development Index) and vaccine storage difficulties, already had a first version at the end of last year.
The first 151 pieces of equipment were delivered, 106 of which in municipalities in the Northeast and 25 in the North. The idea is to expand the partnership to reach 444 cities in all.
The program is supported by Consems (National Council of Municipal Health Departments).
Coca-Cola has committed to invest BRL 3.5 million in the acquisition and distribution of refrigerators, an amount to be doubled by BNDES through the Matchfunding Saving Lives project, launched during the pandemic to facilitate the acquisition of equipment and supplies for the coping with Covid-19.
According to the program’s rules, the official bank contributes R$1 for every R$1 donated by companies. The largest contributions were made by subsidiaries of Eletrobrás, Heineken and B3.
