Piraeus, steadfast in its strategic choice to support and strengthen the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, announces its new initiative to support investments in the modernization and installation of new greenhouses, offering a specialized series of consulting and financing solutions.

In an era where climate change makes imperative the need for agricultural activities with high resilience to extreme weather events, year-round production with increased added value and environmentally friendly practices is a priority.

The modernization of greenhouse facilities and the creation of new ones contributes to the increase of production, agricultural income, exports, sustainable development, positively affecting, at the local and national level, the Gross Domestic Product and employment.

Piraeus, with the aim of supporting and strengthening the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, created exclusively for greenhouse farms, an integrated program that offers solutions to farmers and agricultural businesses, agricultural cooperatives, small and medium enterprises, manufacturers, equipment importers and greenhouse investors. The program includes the provision of consulting services and financing / guarantees for:

  • The installation of new greenhouse units.
  • The modernization and upgrading of existing greenhouse units with new equipment (eg irrigation head, climate control system, ventilation/heating/cooling systems, etc.).
  • The use of renewable energy sources (RES) in the greenhouse unit, through specialized products for its energy autonomy.
  • The creation of additional infrastructure (e.g. cold rooms, packaging and traceability systems, etc.).

This Piraeus initiative responds to the commitment to comprehensively support a sustainable production model in the country’s agri-food sector, meeting the needs of businesses and supporting their modernization and upgrading.
