The construction of HelleniQ Energy’s first photovoltaic self-generation plant at the Megareon industrial facilities of the energy group has been completed.

This is a station with an energy offset of 3MW, which will cover 40% of the annual electricity energy needs of the specific facility. It will operate for 25 years and will offer significant environmental benefits, substantially contributing to the avoidance of COâ‚‚ emissions and the reduction of the carbon footprint by 2600 tonnes, annually.

On the occasion of the delivery of the photovoltaic plant, the head of the HELLENiQ Renewables Business Unit, Dr. Sotiris Kapellos, said: “This project is another proof that HELLENiQ ENERGY is leading the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future, promoting the development of green electricity production for self-consumption in the Group’s main fuel production, storage and handling units. At the same time, with the PV self-generation station covering a large part of the consumption with production from RES, we also contribute to lightening the load of the national distribution network, as the energy production is synchronized to a percentage of more than 80% with the energy consumed”.

As part of the “Vision 2025” strategic plan, the Company is making investments to upgrade its traditional activities, while implementing energy saving and energy autonomy projects in its facilities.

It is recalled that HELLENiQ ENERGY has a project portfolio of 4.3 GW under development and 0.7 GW at an advanced stage, while the achievement of the goal it has set for 1 GW in operation within 2025 is considered a given.
