In November, Parliament is expected to pass the law on emergency aid, in order to make the payments on Christmas days
Legislation paving the way for the payment of emergency financial aid at Christmas will be tabled in November.
This is a fund of more than 200 million euros and concerns different categories of citizens, such as the disabled, pensioners with a personal difference, those who receive a social solidarity allowance, families with children.
“These are the categories that usually receive support in one way or another every year”, recently noted the Minister of Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis to ERT.
“There will be a law that will provide for these in detail in November, in order for the specific allowances to be paid on Christmas days” added the minister.
Mr. Hatzidakis even announced the creation of a Central Registry in which all the beneficiaries of social benefits will be registered with the aim of creating a single database that will show who gets what and what, so that there is an overall supervision and a rationalization of the benefits.
The Register of Benefit Beneficiaries will pave the way for the application of additional criteria for the granting of financial aid with the aim that the collection of benefits does not act as a disincentive to work.
