Meeting with its President European Investment Bank (EIB) Nadia Calvinio carried out today by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, in the context of his official visit to Greece.

During the meeting, the continuation of Greece’s high-level cooperation with the EIB was discussed with particular emphasis on projects that have a significant contribution to the competitiveness of the Greek economy and in other areas such as energy infrastructure, health, affordable housing and agricultural production .

Also discussed were EIB priorities for the next four years as they are expressed in New Strategic Road Map adopted in June 2024. Greece supports these priorities, emphasizing the strengthening of the EIB’s role in promoting investments in strategic areas such as electricity interconnections, climate adaptation, security and defense, as well as supporting social cohesion and affordable housing.

Mr. Hatzidakis also informed Ms. Calvinio on the establishment of the new National Investment Fund and the possibilities and prospects of cooperation and co-financing with the EIB, investment projects and strategic priority activities for both the new Investment Fund and the EIB.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of Economic Policy and Strategy Giorgos Christopoulos, the President of the Council of Economic Experts Michalis Argyrou and the President of the Hellenic Development Investment Bank Haris Lambropoulos, while on the EIB’s side the General Manager of Projects Laura Piovesan, the Head of Southeast Europe Directorate Pilar Solano, the head of her office EIB in Athens Marianna Nathanael and the head of the office of the Vice President Ioanna Seraphim.
