39 years ago, on October 26, 1986, we had it first victim of fan violence in Greek stadiums.

Like today, Mr Charalambos Blionas so unjustly lost his life at the age of just 29 when he received a flare to the neck in her match AEL against PAOK.

The “crimson” do not forget their fan, whom they honored again this year by laying a wreath and flowers in his memory at the Alcazar, in the presence of the PAE administration, the technical staff and the team captains

The announcement in detail:

“On October 26, 1986, the 29-year-old professor Charalambos Blionas died in the Alcazar Stadium, after being hit by a flare. A tragic incident that left an indelible mark on the history of our club and on Greek sports in general.

Charalambos Blionas was the first victim of fan violence in Greek stadiums. Unfortunately, it was not the last. Violence, in various forms, continues to threaten the joy of the game and the safety of fans.

Even today, incidents like this remind us of the need for meaningful interventions. Prevention, education and the active participation of all actors – from sports and education to the state – are more necessary than ever. Implementing the sports law is one step, but changing the mindset is the big question.

We all deserve to be on the courts safely, with our families, enjoying the sport without fear. No game deserves to be marred by loss and violence.

PAE AEL Novibet on Sunday morning honored the memory of the deceased fan by laying a wreath and flowers in his memory, in the presence of the management of PAE, the technical staff and the leaders of the team, sending a clear message: violence does not belong in the stadiums, nor anywhere else.

In fact, from the side of the captains, Thanasis Papageorgiou gave his own message: “our beloved Charalambe, no matter how many years pass, your memory will not remain indelible in the hearts of all the people of Larisa and every Greek fan. 39 years later, your heroic death unites us all like a fist to claim a beautiful football without violence. Your memory is forever Charalamp Blion, forever. IMMORTAL”.
