The time for the annual rendezvous of the citizens with the tax office has arrived. On Monday, March 17, The TAXIS’s electronic platform opens and taxpayers will be able to submit the Their tax returns until July 15th.

This year’s process has many changes compared to last year and taxpayers need to know them in order to avoid additional hassle. In particular, they should be careful about compliance with these dates, as the basic philosophy is that the earlier one submits his statement, the more he will benefit.

There are also changes in pre -filled statements for employees and retirees, who will be automatically submitted. Here too, taxpayers would be good to proceed with an initial control to avoid unpleasant surprises.

According to the data already available to the AADE, which come from employers and the relevant bodies, prostitutes are expected to exceed 1.3 million for 2024 and concern more than 1.5 million taxpayers, which translates to an additional 100,000.

For taxpayers who find that the information in the tax return is fully pre -filled and accurate, no action on their part is required to submit the declaration. AADE will finalize this submission on April 25, 2025. This means that in many cases the process for them will be almost automated, which saves time and avoids any errors or delays.

Deadlines and correction of items

If for any reason the pre -filled data is inaccurate or incomplete, taxpayers are required to modify or complete the correct information. For this purpose, they can submit:

1. Original statement: If they have not submitted a statement by Thursday, April 24, 2025, they should do so before that date.

2. Amending statement: If the original statement has already been made but contains errors or shortcomings, taxpayers may submit an amending statement, without sanctions, from Friday, April 25, 2025, until Tuesday, July 15, 2025. This amending statement will be considered initial, without imposing fines.

Who will pay lower tax

According to the new tax framework, several taxpayers will pay a lower tax, and there will be cases of some who will be called upon to put their hand deep in their pocket. The “winners” are freelancers, “blocking” workers, renovation property owners, farmers with protected children and those who leased real estate via Airbnb or renovated them after years of being closed.

* Renovations: Renovation owners who renovated in 2024 will see a reduced tax of up to € 3,200 for costs up to € 16,000.

* Freelancers: The abolition of the business fee offers a reduction of 325 euros, while imputed income is reduced by 50% in areas below 1,500 inhabitants.

* Block workers: They will have a benefit of 400 to 500 euros due to the abolition of the business fee.

* Owners of closed apartments: Owners who have leased real estate closed for at least 3 years will be exempt from tax on rents in the last quarter of 2024.

* Farmers with protected children: The tax -free threshold is increased by 1,000 euros, with a benefit of up to € 240 for farmers with 4 children.

However, some taxpayers will face increased tax burdens in 2025, mainly due to the acquisition of assets or increased incomes.

Process of submitting and paying

The tax filing process will begin on March 17, 2025 and will be completed on July 15, 2025, without extension. Those who submit their declaration by April 30 and pay the one -off tax will benefit from a 4%deduction, while the deduction for statements made after May 1 is reduced to 3%and 2%.

Specifically, the one -off payment is shaped as follows:

* 4% for statements submitted by April 30

* 3% for statements from May 1 to June 15

* 2% for statements from June 16 to July 15

The discount only applies if the payment is made until July 31.

The tax will be paid in eight monthly installments, with the first installment expiring at the end of July and the latter being paid in February 2026. Taxpayers who choose to pay the tax in installments will have to take into account these dates in order to avoid fines for delays.
