Its satisfaction with the government’s decision to remove the charges for ATM cash withdrawals, regardless of banking network or ATM ownership is expressed in today’s announcement by the Hellenic Consumer Workers’ Association (EUKE).

As he states:

This development follows the documented report sent by the ECEK on July 21, 2025 to the Competition Committee, pointing out the abusive and aggravating practices implemented, especially after the 850 ATM operation of Piraeus Bank to Cashflex.

The EKEKE has shown that supplies up to EUR 2.10 per transaction, coupled with the incomplete information of citizens, violate the principles of transparency, accessibility and universal service, as provided by European PSD2 Directive and the relevant legislation.

Following the public debate and social reaction, the Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Pierrakakis He announced that these charges were resolved, thus protecting millions of consumers, with emphasis on citizens residing in remote areas, vulnerable social strata and those who do not have access to alternative digital transactions.

The EKEK welcomes this intervention, noting that the collective voices of consumers can bring about substantial institutional changes. It will continue consistently intervening in issues that raise the income, quality of life and dignity of citizens.
