BC servers approve return of strike from May 3

by

Dissatisfied with the proposal for a 5% salary increase and without progress in negotiations, Central Bank employees approved, in a meeting held this Friday (29), the resumption of the strike for an indefinite period starting next Tuesday, the 3rd of December. May.

The decision had the support of a “broad majority” of employees who participated in the deliberative assembly, according to Sinal (National Union of Central Bank Employees). The BC announced that it will not comment on the resolution.

The strike by the monetary authority’s servers had been suspended since April 19, when employees decided to give a “vote of confidence” to Roberto Campos Neto, president of the BC, in the search “for an even better proposal for analysts and technicians”. .

Since then, they have been operating in standard operation and making daily stoppages, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

According to Sinal, Campos Neto told union representatives, at a meeting on the 18th, that the linear adjustment of 5% for the entire civil service is a consensus among ministers and endorsed by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Also according to the union, at a meeting on Wednesday (27), the director of BC Administration, Carolina de Assis Barros, confirmed that “there are great chances that the proposal will be made official” and said that the BC will act if another similar career receives top proposal.

as anticipated the Sheeton April 13, Bolsonaro decided to grant a 5% readjustment to all careers — including military personnel in the Armed Forces, as well as members of the Judiciary and Legislative — as of July 1.

This Friday, the president said in an interview with radio Metrópole FM, from Cuiabá (MT), that the proposal to readjust the salary of federal servants by 5% “displeases everyone”, but he tried to distance himself from the criticism of categories, asking for understanding. .

The cost of the measure is estimated at R$ 7.9 billion in 2022, while the Budget has only reserved the amount of R$ 1.7 billion for readjustments or restructuring of civil servants’ careers this year.

The discontent of civil servants grew after Bolsonaro waved a raise only to federal police, a category that makes up his support base.

Also according to the union, Campos Neto promised to arrange a meeting between members of the three BC server entities and Minister Ciro Nogueira (Casa Civil), which has not happened so far.

The category had shown dissatisfaction with the proposal discussed by the government, despite the temporary suspension of the strike on the 19th.

“We declare that 5% is insufficient, we present a counter-proposal giving up the 27% readjustment in the first half of 2022, allowing the Provisional Measure to be valid only from July 1st”, said Fábio Faiad, president of the Signal. “In addition, we charge again the full service to our non-salary tariff.”

With no readjustment in the last three years, BC servers ask for a salary recomposition of 27% and a restructuring of the careers of analysts and technicians.

In BC, analysts receive a gross monthly salary of approximately R$19,000 to R$27,000, while the remuneration of technicians varies from around R$7,500 to R$12,500.

As for the non-salary agenda, employees ask for a change in the nomenclature from analyst to auditor, for example, and a higher education requirement for BC technicians to join.

The mobilization of servers, which intensified from April 1, caused a series of delays in the routine activities of the monetary authority, but part of it was restored over the last two weeks, during the pause of the strike.

The BC released some pending reports, notes and indicators, such as the Focus survey, the savings report and others, but some pending issues remain due to the accumulated volume.

The economic-financial notes (foreign sector and credit) referring to the month of February, for example, were released this week, with a delay of about one month. The publication of data for March has not yet been scheduled.
