Actor John Stamos, 58, expressed his displeasure after the 75th Tony Awards left Bob Saget (1956–2022) out of the tributes and honors. The theater’s most important award ceremony took place on Sunday night (12), at Radio City Musical Hall, in New York, USA.
Prior to the ceremony, Stamos tweeted about Saget not being in the tribute to deceased stars. “Disappointed to hear that Bob Saget will be left out of the In Memoriam segment tonight at the Tony Awards. Bob was brilliant on ‘The Drowsy Chaperone and Hand to God,'” he said of the artist’s production.
“Do the right thing! Bob loved Broadway and I know the community loved him. Let’s make some noise about it all – and send our love and good wishes to hosts Ariana De Bose, Julianne Hough and my friend Darren Criss and all deserved nominees,” he added.
The evening’s tributes included a live performance by Billy Porter, and named stars such as William Hurt, Sidney Poitier, Peter Scolari, Robert Morse, Joan Didion and Stephen Sondheim, among others.
Sought by People magazine, the award’s advisory has not commented on the artist’s exclusion so far. The tribute segment was hosted by Laurence Fishburne. “We remember some of them now, along with all of our colleagues whose glow will forever illuminate future artists and admirers.”
Saget was found dead at age 65 in an Orlando hotel room on January 10. He was discovered around 4 pm, and the lights in his room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando were out.
