Shamima Begum fears for her life after being told she could be sentenced to death when tried for a terrorist offence.

According to the sources, the 22-year-old Londoners are likely to face prosecution for their links to the Islamic State.

The accusations include helping him make a suicide bomber vest for a terrorist group.

Begum is currently in a refugee camp in Rojaba, Syria, after being stripped of British citizenship in 2019.

He tried to regain British citizenship last year, but his application to the High Court failed.

The law allows deprivation of citizenship if it contributes to the public welfare.

The Rojaba region, where Begum lives, is an autonomous region that is not under Syrian control.

Begum desperately wants to return to Britain fearing the injustice of Rojaba’s criminal system.

A source told The Sun:

“He is very scared and worried.

“It was said that he was tried in Rojaba, probably as part of a group of women accused of terrorist crimes.

He hasn’t specified a date yet, but it’s said to be around September or October.

“The Rojaba government does not support the death penalty, but it did not convince him that such a sentence could not be evaded.

“And yet, he faces life in prison.”

Begum’s lack of citizenship means the British government cannot formally intervene or represent diplomacy on her behalf.

According to the sources, Begum was speaking with her family in London and they were receiving legal advice.

However, it is unclear whether UK-based lawyers will be able to represent Begum in Rojava courts.
