Cast in a soap opera, Caio Castro says his priority is to pilot

Caio Castro, 33, is cast in the soap opera “All Flowers”, which premieres in October on Globoplay, but he doesn’t hide it from anyone: professionally, his priority is motor racing. Invited by pilot and friend Nicolas Giaffone to try out a Formula 4 car at the Interlagos circuit, the actor was accompanied by the F5. He talked about the future on the slopes, idols and a career in dramaturgy.

Curiously, Caio did not know how to respond regarding one of the most recent cases in F1, Nelson Piquet’s racist and homophobic speeches about Lewis Hamilton. Read below:

How did it feel to experience a car similar to Formula 1?

It was my second experience with a Formula-style car, I had already spent a day in a city in Uruguay doing training with it. This category, by the way, was the first one I experienced when I got out of the kart, but here at Interlagos it has more power. In this process, it’s 50% mastering the car and the other 50% having control of the track.

What are your aspirations for the Porsche Cup still in 2022?

Is it possible to know about your plans in motorsport for next year?

I still don’t know, I’m going to finish this year, fulfilling the team’s commitments even though I know even a top 5 is complicated.

Who are your biggest sports idols?

I didn’t have the time or the privilege to see Ayrton Senna (1960-1994), because I’m from 1989, in 1994 I was very small. But currently I like Charles’ play [Leclerc] and it impressed me what Max Verstappen, who didn’t have the best car, did in 2021 against Hamilton. Back in 2000, 2001, who I watched as an idol was Rubinho [Barrichello].

Do you look up to him?

The time at Porsche I started 10th and won it just reminded me of him [Rubinho] who in Hockenheim (German GP) starting last managed to win the race [no ano de 2000]. The conditions were similar, rain, penalty suffered. I also liked the duels he had with Schumacher.

What is your opinion on Piquet’s accusations of racism and homophobia with Hamilton?
