Little George smiled for his mum’s camera as the family holidayed in the UK
It has become a sweet tradition for him Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to celebrate their children’s birthdays with a new royal portrait.
Next in line is prince georgewho turns 9 on July 22.
In the photo, taken by keen amateur… photographer Kate while the family were on holiday in the UK earlier this month, George smiled for his mother’s camera. You’ll remember that smile from the Jubilee celebrations when she sang a cover of Rod Stewart’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ during the Palace party. Along with the Queen’s sketch with Paddington Bear, which was one of the highlights of the televised celebration.
How does a young king celebrate his ninth birthday? As well as photos, there will be cake which, as the Duchess previously told Mary Berry, she is a fan of baking at home. “It’s become a bit of a tradition for me to stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and frosting,” Kate said. “I do too much, but I like it,” she added.
There is, as George shows, a lot to smile about. Having recently attended his first Wimbledon a special “grace”, according to his parents and with school out for the summer, it’s a very happy birthday indeed for this prince.
