Rachel’s haircut is having a renaissance and it’s better than ever
Hair layering is a hair term used by everyone from professionals to your best friend who wants to try a change.
The different layers in the hair pay homage to the 90s, but in a fresher way today. Perhaps one cannot completely copy Rachel Green’s haircut but elements of it.
From Jennifer Lopez’s long fringes to Kaia Gerber’s shoulder length, there’s no denying that layering offers an ease and versatility that other styles don’t. Today it seems that more attention is being paid to different textures with the aim of a more relaxed style that will free the hair from constant maintenance.
The recent Dior beauty campaign features Cara Delevingne’s freshly cut ends by Neil Moodie. “I gave them volume and shape. I also gave her some layers that accentuate the facial anatomy,” says Moodie.
Most of us have, at some point, sat in a salon chair and asked for layers. But it’s worth checking with your hairdresser before they pick up the scissors. It matters if you want to take care of your hair naturally, if you air dry or with a hair dryer, if you use styling tools. Let’s just say that layering may in 2022 become a little more personalized.
