A few days before the anniversary of his death, “Prespes” honors the great Greek composer
After the huge ecological disaster and the death of 1,700 silver pelicans in the past year, this year’s event “Prespeia 2022” sends a cry of anguish for this huge loss and plans for next year a big conference on climate change and ecology.
“Last Spring, Prespa lost half of its colony of silver pelicans. All the events this year are being held for this disaster, reminding everyone that they should have done something about this issue,” Prespa Festival artistic director Giorgos Lianis told the Athens/Macedonian News Agency.
Dedicated to this disaster and entitled “The meteoric step of the pelicans”, will be the concert of Evanthia Reboutsikas, Marios Fragoulis and Dimitra Selemidou, which will be given tomorrow, Saturday, August 27, at the imposing basilica of Agios Achillios. At this event, the poet Vangelis Chronis will be honored by “Prespes” and his poems will be read.
A year without Mickey
A few days before the one-year anniversary of the death of Mikis Theodorakis, “Prespes” honors the great Greek composer, dedicating to him the first concert of this year’s events, entitled “A year without Mikis”.
The premiere for “Prespeia 2002” takes place tonight, Friday, August 26, at the DAK of Florina, where the Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra prepared a tribute to the world composer with performers Vassilis Lekka and Rita Antonopoulou, while for the first time he will also sing his grandson, Angelos Theodorakis.
The concert “The meteoric step of the pelicans” will follow on Saturday and on Sunday, August 28, Stelios Rokkos will present a three-hour concert at the open stadium of Amyntaios. On Monday, August 29, in the Heroic village of Lehovo, burned twice by the Germans, Eleni Vitali will appear with Panagiotis Margaris, in a concert that will take place on a col opposite Nymphaeum, at an altitude of 1000 meters.
The events of this year’s event will close on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Balkan terms, with the concert of Goran Bregovic and Paola at the DAK Florina.
