Jisoo Baik “dressed” Björk on the anticipated album Fossora

by

Ever since Björk she relied on fashion to bring her inner world more in tune with reality, and this time it was Jisoo Baik who offered a vehicle for her feelings. For her creation for the album Fossora, the 10th studio album by the Icelandic singer-songwriter –will be released on September 30th from One Little Independent Records – the Paris-based fashion designer recently spoke to Dazed.

“Taken from my last collection, the inspiration for the design was the idea of safety and the idea of protection,” explains Baik, talking about the first order she officially received. “The garment has a very distinctive shape. You can clearly see that she is a woman in it, but her body is not visible because the design creates a protective barrier between her and the world. It’s about creating a safe space, made for a mysterious woman who is both strong and fragile, and whose courage allows her to act boldly even in the face of danger.”

With Fossora coming at the end of the month, Baik links her creation to ‘Undo’ from her 2001 album Vespertine. “This song has always touched me and comforted me, helping me escape from my own insecurities. It makes me feel safe to deal with difficult memories and experiences. Every time I listen to this song, I am overwhelmed with feelings of peace, comfort, and joy,” confesses Jisoo Baik.
