While we think of coffee as a tonic, and this property is true, many times it causes the opposite effect and we feel more tired and exhausted than before.
Coffee and caffeine in all its forms have entered our daily lives for good and we now consider it necessary to be able to wake up in the morning or during the day, to be able to cope with our obligations.
And while we think of coffee as a tonic – and this property is true – and as the drink that will “activate” us, many times it causes the opposite effect and we feel more tired and exhausted than before.
This is due to various factors and habits that we may have and it is good to change them.
#1. You drink a lot of coffee
Excess is not good for anything, including coffee intake. The overdose, i.e. when you exceed three coffees, puts you in a state of overstimulation which, however, when it passes, you feel more tired than ever. For this reason, do not exceed three coffees so that your body has time to get used to and smoothly enter this state.
#2. It blocks the production and release of adenosine
Adenosine is a substance that the brain releases into our body, causing us to feel sleepy and the need to fall asleep. When we drink coffee, it blocks that release, but it doesn’t stop it from being produced, so when it’s released again, all that sudden amount that’s spread across our nervous system, makes us feel super exhausted.
#3. Sugar is more harmful than you think
In general, sugar intake can make us feel happy and energized, but it does a lot of damage to our body in many ways. One of them is that once the action of sugar has passed from our body, it will continue to ask for more and more until the end of the day, so you will be looking for that sweet something exhausted, looking for desperate energy.
#4. The coffee is not stored in the right conditions
This results in the production of mycotoxins – they appear in humid conditions and are very common in the case of coffee – which are produced by fungi and damage the body long-term, to a very serious level.
#5. You have a caffeine tolerance
Not all people are affected by coffee to the same degree and not everyone is equally sensitive, and this depends on the metabolism. The faster your body metabolizes coffee, the faster its effect wears off. So if you metabolize slowly, its properties last longer and you will need fewer coffees during the day.
#6. It is a natural diuretic
You will have noticed that you visit the toilet more often when you drink coffee and this is because this is one of its properties. This has the effect of dehydrating the body, thus its exhaustion, which is why you feel physically tired after a day of drinking coffee.
#7. You’re drinking coffee at the wrong time of day
Drinking your first coffee right after waking up on an empty stomach raises cortisol levels in your body and puts you in a state of nervousness which then causes exhaustion. So prefer to drink your coffee a few hours after you wake up, and ideally having eaten a good breakfast first.
So in order to be able to deal with this phenomenon of drowsiness, it is good to drink coffee in moderation without going out of quantity, or ideally to choose green tea that stimulates you equally, but also to prefer sugar substitutes such as stevia, so that you do not seek sugar and energy the rest of your day.
In addition, no matter how much we try with alternative ways and new methods, we are not going to have the energy we are looking for and the feeling of rest, as when you have slept properly in quantity and quality, so do not neglect your sleep routine.
