The soap opera “Carinha de Anjo” (2016) is an audience phenomenon on Netflix and since its debut it has not left the Top 10 Brazil on the platform. On SBT, which originally produced and aired the telenovela, the special rerun on the channel’s nights has surprised with ratings peaks of up to 10.9 points, according to Kantar Ibope.

Child actress Lorena Queiroz, 10, who played the protagonist Dulce Maria, says she is very happy with the success of the soap opera’s rerun on TV and streaming. She says she doesn’t miss a chapter. “I love watching myself on television.”

“I didn’t imagine going to Netflix, we found out like that overnight, seeing it, and I thought it was incredible,” he says.

Despite having starred in the soap opera when she was only four years old, Lorena says she remembers a lot, especially when she was recording scenes of Dulce Maria doing mischief. “I thought it was really cool, the moments I remember most are us laughing, having fun.”

The character’s success was so much that even today the actress is recognized and stopped on the street, even wearing a mask. She is now 10 years old and is very different from the little girl who played Dulce Maria. “They ask me: ‘Are you Dulce Maria?’. I answer: ‘Yes’. But I love it, mainly, receiving affection from the fans, I think it’s super nice.”

Lorena remembers that, in order to land the role of Dulce Maria, her first television character, she had to do tests and a workshop for about three months. “It was awesome, I learned a lot on the tests and I met a lot of people on the soap opera.”

After “Carinha de Anjo”, Lorena discovered that she loves acting and, even as a pre-teen, speaks like grown-ups who can’t imagine doing anything else. She says she is very inspired by actresses Larissa Manoela, Maisa Silva, Klara Castanho, Olivia Rodrigo and Millie Bobby Brown. In common with Lorena, they also started acting as a child. “I’m a big fan of Olivia Rodrigo, both in music and in acting.”

In September, the actress finished filming her first feature, “Alice in the Internet World”, directed by FabrĆcio Bittar, scheduled to arrive on streaming platforms in 2022. In the film, inspired by the classic “Alice in Wonderland”, to Instead of falling into a rabbit hole, Lorena’s character ends up inside a computer and faces unusual situations in the digital world.

Lorena says that it was fun to play Alice and a new experience to record with a chroma key – a unique color background that is then cut out on the computer and replaced by other scenarios. “[Alice] have a great adventure with your friends because it ends up on the internet, it’s a lot of fun.”

The actress is currently shooting a series for Discovery Kids and says she might not be spoilers. “My character is called Nina and she will really encourage kids to learn new things or at least try.”

Outside of drama, Lorena is a hit on social media with 6.9 million followers on Instagram and 2.2 million on Facebook. Her YouTube channel has 1.57 million subscribers. I always talk to the girls in my fan club [no Instagram], I’m always answering direct, my mother too, and liking the comments.”
