After spending some time without being able to use Twitter because of anti-Semitic speech, rapper Kanye West, 45, returned to the social network and has already made a promise to his followers. He says he intends to go 30 days without talking or drinking.

“I’m doing a 30-day cleanse. A verbal fast. No alcohol. No adult movies. No sex,” posted the musician. “But my Twitter is still working,” he warned.

The rapper paid a settlement to a former employee who witnessed him using anti-Semitic language in the workplace. NBC News spoke, on condition of anonymity, with the former employee who showed documents and proof of payment. West denied the allegations made by the witness.

NBC News also spoke anonymously to six other people who confirmed — three of whom worked with the rapper and others heard an anti-Semitic rant from him at business meetings. They said they heard him praising Hitler and mentioning conspiracy theories against the Jewish people.

After having his contract with Adidas terminated, he tried to partner with competitor Skechers, but was eventually escorted out of the company.

The artist commented on his financial losses in a message directed to the executive Ari Emanuel published on Instagram. One of Hollywood’s biggest agents, Emanuel recently suggested that companies stop working with the rapper because of the anti-Semitic comments he made on social media.

“I lost $2 billion [mais de R$ 10 bilhões] in a day and I’m still alive,” he said. “This is love speech, I still love you, God still loves you. Money is not who I am, people are who I am.”
