Tomorrow Saturday, at 12.00, the funeral of the journalist will be held in the Holy Church of the Melissia Cemetery Antonis Skyllakou, who “passed away” in the morning, at the age of 66.

Antonis Skyllakos was born in 1956 in Larissa. In the same city he grew up and finished his high school studies. In 1974, he entered the Economics Department of the Law School of the University of Athens and, at the same time, attended courses at the “Laboratory of Professional Journalism”.

He started his work in journalism in 1982, as an apprentice journalist in the sports report of “ETHNOUS”. Afterwards, he joined the payroll of the newspaper “TA NEA” as a freelance reporter. In 1986, he began his collaboration with the newly published newspaper “I PROTI” and three months later, he was assigned the duties of freelance reporting. In October 1986 he was accredited as political editor of the newspaper in the Ministry of the Presidency. In January 1987, he moved to Brussels, as a correspondent for the famous “Democratic Logos” while, at the same time, he worked in the press office of the Socialist Group of the European Parliament. In the period 1991-1993 he worked at the newspaper “Ethnos tis Kyriakis”, he was the editor-in-chief of the radio stations “Athens 9.84”, “Flash” and “Top FM”.

He was a political editor of the “SKAI” radio station and editor-in-chief of “SKAI” radio and television’s political reporting in the period 1992-1993, while he also served as editorial director of the “SKAI” newspaper since 1994.

During his professional life he participated in journalistic missions to Lebanon, Nicaragua and almost all European capitals.

His long career in journalism has always been evolutionary. Possessing excellent ethics and unlimited love for his work, he managed to constantly improve his professional level. He worked, employed in various reports, in many newspapers and radio stations, since the start of operation of private radio and television and assumed positions of responsibility in major Media:

He was editor-in-chief of the evening news section of the radio station “Athens 9.84”, Director of the “Ethnos” and “Ethnos tis Kyriaki” newspapers, News and Information Director of the “ALPHA” television station, President and General Director of APE-MPE, editorial director of ” FREE PRESS” and executive of ERT.

As ESIEA emphasizes, Antonis Skyllakos, a deep connoisseur of the political and media background and background, managed to compose and to develop the journalistic work, leaving aside conflicts and confrontations. He wrote his own bright path in the field of Press and Information, enjoying at the same time the acceptance and respect of his partners and colleagues.
