Faustão’s former dancer denounces racism in store: ‘This hurts a lot’

The model and former dancer of Faustão Carol Tozaki denounced having suffered racism at the Animale store at Shopping Iguatemi, in São Paulo. She, who lives in London, was passing through the capital of São Paulo when she went through the situation of prejudice.

Crying, Carol used Instagram stories to tell her that she was very sad for not being well attended by the sellers. “It doesn’t matter if you have money, if you have the conditions. I came here at Shopping Iguatemi and I was very sad, I actually felt coerced,” he said.

She also said that it’s no use being well dressed and wearing an expensive watch and purse because people aren’t going to attend properly due to the color of the skin. “And there will be a lot of people who will say it’s mimimi. But it’s not.”

Carol said that she went to Shopping Iguatemi because she needed to buy a leather jacket and was sure she would be able to find it in one of the stores. According to her, this is one of the reasons why she doesn’t want to live in Brazil, because people are very racist and prejudiced.

“This hurts a lot. I feel more at home in other countries than in Brazil, it’s all very prejudiced. I already want to go back to London, I don’t want to stay here anymore.”

In a note, Animale apologized to Carol Tozaki for the way she felt in one of their stores. “The brand is committed to building an anti-racist culture.”

The brand guaranteed that “the customer report will be part of its continuous review of the diversity and inclusion actions that are implemented both in this store’s team and in the entire team across the country.”
