Historic Majestic Theater to Close for Major Renovation – When the curtain falls, the famous musical will come down for the first time in 35 years, after 13,981 performances

Watching a musical at the famous Broadway theaters is an experience of a lifetime, especially if it’s Phantom of the Opera, at the historic and impressive Majestic Theatre.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical has been running continuously on Broadway for 35 years and has been seen by billions of viewers – last week alone the theater was packed every day and the show grossed $2.2 million!

The historic Majestic Theater recently announced that these would be the last performances of Broadway’s longest-running musical, as it would close for good in February for a major renovation.

However, the audience’s response to the news was so great – and ticket bookings reached such levels – that the production and the theater decided to extend the shows until April.

The Phantom of the Opera first opened on Broadway in 1988 and has continued to run continuously through recessions, war and cultural change.

The last time ‘Christine’, ‘Eric’ (The Phantom of the Opera), ‘Raoul’ and ‘Madame Guiry’ will take to the Majestic stage will be on April 16, 2023.

When the curtain falls, the famous musical will “come down” for the first time in 35 years, after 13,981 performances.
