Prince Harry, 38, claimed that Buckingham Palace and the royal family created lies to protect his brother, Prince William, 40, but did not do the same for his image. “They were happy to lie to protect my brother,” he claimed.
“They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” he added. The testimony was shared in a new trailer for volume 2 of the documentary “Harry and Meghan” (Netflix), which premieres on December 15.
Despite not naming names during the short stretch, the prince indicates that his comments relate to members of the royal family and his palace advisers. He even mentions an “institutional gaslighting”, while images of scrolling newspapers are displayed.
The term “gaslighting” was chosen by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as the word of the year for 2022. It represents a form of psychological abuse in which information is distorted, omitted and even invented to favor the abuser, making the victim doubt your own memory.
Last Thursday (8) the first three chapters of the documentary were released. In addition to revolving around the prince’s wedding to Meghan Markle, 41, the documentary also deals with other episodes of the couple’s life as members of the royal family.
